THAD MCCLOUD
Mr. McCloud has over 33 years’ experience in the Utility Industry, which includes more than 30 years within the commercial nuclear industry. He began his nuclear career with Arizona Public Service (APS) at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station (PVNGS) in 1991. During his 22 years at PVNGS he held a myriad of positions within Supply Chain, Maintenance/Fuel Services, and the Performance Improvement groups. He received a Limited Senior Reactor Operator License (LSRO) to oversee fuel movements while in the Maintenance/Fuel Services organization. In 2005 Mr. McCloud transitioned to the Performance Improvement (PI) Department where he provided support to the site in varying positions which included the Operating Experience (OE) Supervisor, Corrective Action Program (CAP) Supervisor, and then CAP Manager. During his tenure in the PI department, he assisted in the recovery from significant performance issues leading to NRC Column 4 and 95003 Inspections.
In 2013 he moved to the non-nuclear side of APS to develop the Corrective Action Program for the Fossil Generation, Transmission & Distribution, Marketing, and Information Technology business units. Here he designed the overall program structure; provided training, governance, and oversight of CAP; as well as supported the organizations as a mentor during causal analyses.
Mr. McCloud joined Entergy Nuclear at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) in 2017 where he led the Performance Improvement team as the PI Manager. During this time, he managed the station’s recovery efforts around Problem Identification and Resolution (PI&R). These efforts resolved INPO Areas for Improvement in Causal Analysis and Corrective Action development/implementation. In 2020 Mr. McCloud transitioned to the MaxGen project for Entergy Nuclear and provided Subject Matter Expertise in the design of the replacement CAP software (Maximo) for the Entergy nuclear fleet. Following this project, he returned to GGNS as an Assessor within Nuclear Independent Oversight, providing oversight of the Performance Improvement, Work Management, and Industrial Safety programs.
Mr. McCloud joined WD Associates in 2024 as a consultant and provides support and leadership for causal analysis, mentorship of management/PI/Safety/CAP coordinators in the area of PI&R, and provides training in all aspects of the Corrective Action Program for both nuclear and non-nuclear industries.
