Course introduction - introduces key concepts associated with trending, common cause analysis, and correction of negative trends including definitions of key terms, trend analysis methodology, process flow and timeline, attributes of effective cause analysis, identifying effective corrective actions, and a practical exercise. Trending – provides systematic approach to identifying repetitive low-level issues using methods for analyzing qualitative and cognitive data. Common Cause Analysis Techniques – presents commonly used analysis techniques and incorporates these techniques into practical exercises. Human Performance, Programmatic, and Organizational Analysis – describes the relationship between behavior and performance and relates them to human aspects of events, provides a model that can be used for most task-oriented events and includes exercises to tie human performance concepts to cause analysis. Discusses fundamental principles related to evaluation of programmatic and organizational issues. Comprehensive Final Exercise that requires students to apply the principles learned.
