Discusses traditional and emerging approaches for trend identification, including the use of data analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support the review of large volumes of corrective action and operational data, identify recurring themes, and enhance the effectiveness of trend recognition. Common Cause Analysis Techniques – Presents commonly used analysis techniques and incorporates these techniques into practical exercises. Discusses the effective use of AI-enabled tools to support data gathering, information organization, pattern recognition, and evaluation of potential causal relationships while maintaining analyst ownership, critical evaluation, and validation of conclusions. Human Performance, Programmatic, and Organizational Analysis – Describes the relationship between behavior and performance and relates them to human aspects of events, provides a model that can be used for most task-oriented events, and includes exercises to tie human performance concepts to cause analysis. Discusses fundamental principles related to the evaluation of programmatic and organizational issues.
